Rita Finley STLS award

Southern Tier Library System
Outstanding Library Advocate
Rita Finley has been a longtime supporter of the Pulteney Free Library.  She has served on the Board for over 14 years, some of the time as President.  As a concerned Library supporter and member of the community she headed the Advocacy campaign to pass the Chapter 414 vote in 2013.   This vote changed the Library’s funding from the Town Board’s discretion to being directly approved by the voters.  Rita created pamphlets which were mailed to Pulteney voters and distributed VOTE YES signs around town.  She had approached the Firemen’s Auxiliary for a contribution to the Advocacy campaign to cover the costs of the mailings and the signs. She brainstormed ideas for fundraising with other Library supporters to help us in our new building project.  She has worked tirelessly over the years to help the Library grow and improve. She exemplifies Library Advocacy.
